Urswick School celebrates record A-level results with 87% A*-C grades

The Urswick School in Hackney is marking its best-ever A-level performance, with results that demonstrate a year of exceptional accomplishments across its student body.

The institution, which has maintained a position in the upper 20 percent of schools nationally for A-level advancement for three consecutive years, disclosed that 87 percent of all grades awarded fell within the A* to C range, representing an increase from the 75 percent recorded in the previous year.

Exactly 18.9 percent of grades were either A* or A, while 50.6 percent achieved A* to B standard.

Dele Rotimi, principal at The Urswick School, commented that these results held particular significance given the school’s dedication to an inclusive sixth form that serves a community facing considerable economic challenges, while maintaining more flexible subject-entry conditions than comparable institutions.

The headteacher observed that the school’s aspirations for its pupils were clearly reflected in the outcomes: disadvantaged learners accounted for 20 percent of all A* to A grades, and these students obtained a proportionally higher share of the top marks than their non-disadvantaged counterparts.

Two pupils gained admission to Oxford and Cambridge, while every student who sat A-level examinations received a grade rather than remaining ungraded.

Zakariya Mudhir secured five A* grades in economics, further mathematics, mathematics, physics, and an extended project qualification, alongside HSK4 certification. He will pursue mathematics studies at University College London.

Lucas Narborough, who will study biology at Oxford, obtained A* grades in politics and his extended project qualification, together with A grades in biology and chemistry.

Romeo Bremmer has secured a place at Cambridge University for a foundation year in arts, humanities, and social sciences, having attained an A in law, an A in his extended project qualification, a B in politics, and a C in history.

Mr Rotimi explained that the proverb about needing a village to raise a child captured the sentiment behind his gratitude to his dedicated colleagues and encouraging families, as the school delighted in sharing the success of its remarkable pupils.
