Students at The City Academy in Hackney are celebrating record-breaking GCSE examination outcomes, with numerous learners securing straight grade 9 passes.
One standout pupil, named Anna, attributed her accomplishments to the backing she received from her teachers.
Two pupils with ambitions in engineering, Ugonna and Deniz, also earned multiple top grades.
Deniz expressed satisfaction with his performance while noting his intention to continue pushing himself. He explained his passion for Mechanical Engineering and his hope that studying Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-level – which he acknowledged would be demanding – might lead him to institutions such as Oxford or Cambridge.
Anna Sarchet, headteacher at The City Academy in Hackney, stated that the institution was thrilled to have achieved its highest-ever results and felt tremendous pride in all its pupils, describing them as an exceptional year group who had fostered a supportive and positive environment together.
The school also saw its strongest-ever A-level performance the previous week, with numerous students gaining admission to renowned universities and securing degree apprenticeships with prominent employers.
The City of London Academies Trust, which manages the school, was recently praised by the Education Secretary for its academic standards, especially regarding pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Mark Emmerson, the trust’s chief executive, extended congratulations to the students on their well-deserved outcomes, noting that their individual accomplishments were genuinely worth celebrating and marked the culmination of an outstanding year for the organisation.
Steve Goodman, chair of the trust, likewise emphasised the contribution of the City of London Corporation in enabling pupil achievement.
Mr Goodman stated that he wished to acknowledge the essential contribution of the trust’s sponsor, the City of London Corporation, whose steadfast dedication to education supports the delivery of high standards across all its schools.
The trust provides education to over 3,000 children throughout East London and prioritises both academic excellence and character development.
