Crown & Manor Youth Club repairs continue after April floods

Published on

The past twelve months have represented one of the most challenging periods in recent history for the Crown & Manor Club.

While numerous hardships can emerge without warning, the establishment faced a significant flooding incident in April that resulted in substantial disruption to facilities and operations.

Following the flood, specific sections of the premises became inaccessible, necessitating extensive repair and restoration efforts that have continued behind the scenes since that time.

The process has presented considerable difficulties with multiple obstacles encountered along the way, yet throughout this challenging period, one element has remained central to the club’s mission — its young members.

Despite ongoing construction work and operational disruptions, the organisation’s employees have continued to provide activities, programmes and assistance to the boys and young men who rely on the facility.

Whether through sport, music, dance, education or simply offering a safe and constructive environment, the commitment to prioritising young people has remained unwavering.

Andrew Gray noted that despite the setbacks, Crown & Manor has consistently placed its youth at the centre of its operations.

The physical structure sustained considerable damage, yet the fundamental character of the institution has been preserved.

The dedication demonstrated by staff, young members, parents, volunteers and supporters has underscored the strength of the community and why the club continues to hold significance in the lives of so many young people.

Looking forward, there is considerable cause for optimism.

Activities will resume, improvements will be systematically implemented, and the club anticipates returning to its full potential.

The planned reopening on Monday September 7, 2026 marks an important milestone in this recovery.

Each new season presents opportunities to build upon previous achievements, introduce fresh initiatives, extend support to additional young people and foster new shared experiences.

The preceding year has tested the organisation, yet it has also reinforced the values that define Crown & Manor — community, resilience, opportunity and young people.

Though circumstances have presented challenges, the foundation remains strong and ready for the next chapter.
