Free four-day cycling festival coming to Brent from September 18

Published on

A four-day cycling celebration will take place across Brent this September, offering complimentary family activities throughout the borough.

From September 18 through September 22, residents can participate in guided rides, instructional sessions, and bicycle maintenance services.

Events will be staged in Cricklewood, Kilburn, Kingsbury, and Willesden.

The Brent Cycle Activation Network, working alongside Brent Council and the London Cycling Campaign, will deliver six guided rides alongside three dedicated festival locations.

All programming is designed to accommodate participants of varying ages, skill levels, and bicycle types, thanks to contributions from Brent’s extensive network of cycling volunteers and community groups.

The schedule commences on September 18 in Kingsbury with a morning Bike Bus departing for St Robert Southwell RC Primary School.

The brief half-mile journey is appropriate for cyclists of all capabilities.

That afternoon, a family-oriented ride will depart from St Robert Southwell RC Primary School, traveling through Roe Green Park Walled Garden before concluding at the Swaminarayan Mandir in Kingsbury.

On September 19, activities relocate to St Gabriel’s Church in Cricklewood.

Toddlers will have opportunities to test balance bikes, while Dr Bike technicians will conduct complimentary safety inspections and provide guidance.

An afternoon excursion suitable for young children and accompanying adults will head toward Mapesbury Conservation Area.

A more extended journey to Gladstone Park will allow older children to develop endurance over greater distances.

September 20 sees the festival base itself at Willesden Sports Centre.

Professional cycle instructors will be available for booking sessions aimed at teaching cycling fundamentals.

Two separate rides departing from the Sports Centre will cater to families with children alongside more experienced cyclists, winding through several of Brent’s parks and green spaces.

The programme concludes on September 22 along Priory Park Road with recreational games and pursuits, complemented by complimentary bicycle safety assessments from Dr Bike representatives.

Participation is available for individuals and families regardless of prior cycling experience.

Certain activities require advance reservation.
