Companies can access funding to transition away from petrol and diesel towards greener transport options.

Hackney and multiple London boroughs are making up to £2,500 accessible for organisations seeking to purchase cargo bikes via the Zero Emissions Network’s revived Workplace Travel Grant.

This initiative backs companies wishing to swap petrol and diesel for more environmentally friendly alternatives.

Councillor Jacob Cable, who serves as cabinet member for climate, clean energy, air and transport, stated that cargo bikes represent a transformative transport solution for London enterprises. He noted that with storage compartments, passenger configurations and electric motor capabilities, they enable the movement of heavy items or packages, frequently with greater speed and efficiency than motorcycles or vans.

The programme seeks to lower transportation expenses, decrease pollution and enhance air quality, while also promoting understanding of sustainable mobility solutions. It receives support from the Mayor of London’s Air Quality Fund.

Financial support covers the expense of a cargo bike, alongside instruction, tailored guidance and continued assistance.

Earlier beneficiaries of the funding, including Dot Dot Tea, have described greater adaptability and enhanced delivery possibilities to destinations such as Selfridges. The offer is available to enterprises in Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Westminster, Newham and the City of London.
