Tesco rolls out store feature to additional UK locations in pilot

Published on

The supermarket chain has revealed plans to increase the number of parcel lockers available inside its shops through a fresh pilot scheme.

The initiative will involve fitting Evri-branded collection points at a limited selection of its larger store formats.

This forms part of a wider click-and-collect hub experiment that consolidates various delivery companies within one location.

The company indicated the programme follows on from its current working relationship with Evri, which enables customers to accumulate Clubcard rewards when posting items through the logistics provider.

It aligns with efforts to provide additional services to shoppers and incorporate more facilities into their high street locations.

A Tesco strategic partnerships representative stated they are always seeking methods to enhance the convenience of the shopping experience for their customers, and as part of a small locker hub partner trial across several stores, they are delighted to introduce Evri lockers.

Liam Rogan, who leads the ParcelShop and Locker Network division at Evri, explained that by teaming up with Tesco and MFG (Motor Fuel Group), they are strengthening their dedication to offering customers a selection of quality delivery choices.

Retail Gazette reports the pilot is anticipated to determine whether a wider implementation of Evri lockers across the retailer’s property portfolio will subsequently take place.

Tesco clarified that the Royal Mail lockers would function alongside its existing InPost parcel lockers, offering shoppers additional options for sending, collecting and returning packages.

These parcel lockers can produce labels for customers who are unable to print them at home.

To operate the parcel lockers, customers must first purchase postage through the website and obtain a QR code, or request a QR code when returning an item.
