Tyler, The Creator returns for second night at All Points East after crowd comments

Published on

Tyler, the Creator performed as the headlining act at All Points East on Friday, August 28, drawing a substantial audience to Victoria Park for the first of two consecutive nights at the major festival.

The Californian rapper appeared on stage as fireworks launched, marking the scale of the production.

The opening number featured the track Big Poe, followed by an extensive selection of popular songs drawn primarily from the recent releases Don’t Tap the Glass and Chromakopia.

Throughout the set, Tyler, the Creator addressed the audience between tracks, referencing his previous ban from the United Kingdom by former Home Secretary Theresa May and comparing the energy of the London crowd to that of a recent show in Paris.

Both topics generated negative reactions from those in attendance.

The 35-year-old performer concluded the evening by asking the crowd whether they intended to return for the following night’s performance, prompting an overwhelmingly positive response.

Supporting acts performed throughout the day for those with standard admission.

AG Club opened the afternoon proceedings at 3pm with an energetic set accompanied by distinctive video backdrops.

Sade Olutola performed a set featuring distinctly British musical elements, positioning herself within the UK hip-hop scene.

Love Spells delivered a set marked by distinctive vocals that contrasted with the performer’s stage presence and dancing.

The set featured material from the recent album Love Is The Law.

Rochelle Jordan also performed.

The festival’s layout required attendees to plan their movements, with multiple stages offering simultaneous programming.

Dust conditions, a known issue at the venue, proved less severe than anticipated despite ongoing drought conditions affecting the country.
