Waltham Forest College principal shares personal journey from student to leader

Waltham Forest College has been confirmed as London’s leading institution for student achievement among 16 to 18-year-olds, according to the National Achievement Rate Tables for Further Education in England for the 2024/25 academic year.

The college has introduced its new Principal and Chief Executive Officer, who has outlined her vision for the institution.

The newly appointed leader’s educational journey began within the Further Education sector.

She progressed to higher education before establishing a career in teaching and education leadership.

Her background includes growing up in East London during the 1970s and 1980s as part of a single-parent household in an area facing economic challenges.

Despite these circumstances, she received support from dedicated teachers and staff members who encouraged her ambitions and helped her pursue her goals.

The institution offers programmes for various learners, including those completing their school education, individuals seeking to acquire new competencies, people exploring career transitions, and adults returning to formal education.

Staff members at the college work to help every student reach their maximum potential by providing quality learning experiences, specialist guidance, and connections with employers and the broader community.

Through these opportunities, students can develop the abilities, understanding, and self-assurance required to excel.

The college emphasises that an individual’s background does not determine their future trajectory.

Students are invited to explore their capabilities, develop their talents, and move meaningfully towards their desired outcomes.

The Principal has expressed anticipation of welcoming prospective students and observing continued growth and achievement within the college community.
