An East London children’s book publisher has earned a place among the nation’s leading small-scale publishing operations.
Flying Eye Books, based in Hackney, claimed the London regional title in the British Book Awards 2026 Small Press of the Year category.
The Bookseller editor and judging panel chair Philip Jones noted that publishers nationwide continue to surpass expectations, boosting revenue, collecting prizes and discovering innovative methods to engage readers. He added that these businesses demonstrate unwavering dedication to their writers, labouring to forge connections between authors and audiences while honouring their accomplishments. Despite mounting costs and economic uncertainty, their contributions remain vital throughout this Year of Reading.
The company was honoured for its acclaimed children’s titles, which combine picture-based narratives with superior manufacturing standards.
The firm will now battle for the final honour at the British Book Awards ceremony set for May 11 at Grosvenor House.
