Hackney Chronicle: Police have shut down an illegal music event with over 200 people in attendance taking place in Stonebridge Gardens, Haggerston.
Police have shut down an illegal music event with over 200 people in attendance taking place at a park in Haggerston, reports London Now. Multiple calls were made to police over reports of the unlicensed event in Stonebridge Gardens yesterday (March 28). It had been organised online, with attendees travelling into the area near Haggerston station from outside the borough, reports our sister-site London Now. According to the Metropolitan Police, over 200 people attended along with “significant sound equipment”. The organisers were served a notice and told to stop the event immediately. Soon after, the party was shut down and the crowd was safely dispersed. Officers and members from Hackney Council also closed the park off for the evening to prevent anyone from returning later on. The Met Police said online: “This strong, coordinated action sends a clear message that unlicensed music events will not be tolerated in Hackney, and that robust enforcement action will be taken against individuals or groups who organise them.”
